“To everyone that reads this, especially my former and current students, I got a weird call the other day. A lady had gone to another clinic and had severe burns from a laser hair removal treatment despite the fact that she was a prime candidate on the Fitzpatrick Chart. She asked me; “Do you think I should have shaved before the treatment”? My response?????; “You mean they didn’t make you shave”??? Her response; “NO”! So I began telling her the facts. Not shaving before a laser treatment is a major major contraindication!!!! lol First of all, the hairs (dark) probably absorbed most of the laser energy and the hairs also created a microscopic space, and in space most lasers gain energy unless collimated, of a different type of wave energy/frequency, or of a different origin in general. Her response; “That is why I got burned!!” My response; “Precisely”! So students please take notes and to anybody who thinks they can learn everything about laser hair removal in a 5 day training course (Unless you have an electrology and/or medical background involving the skin), sadly are gravely mistaken my friends. That is why I teach the facts, technology changes but some basic principles of physics remain the same.” Mr. Hyde
